| Podere I Corbezzoli is a simply furnished and rustic holiday home surrounded by a backdrop of hills and “macchia Mediterranea,” wild, untamed and completely natural vegetation, wonderful for walking and exploring.
Our first sight of this secluded property on a crisp, but still warm November day, was an evergreen shield of bushes covered in small, round, bright red fruit. As the owner welcomed us, he suggested we tasted them. Sweet and delicious, the house was re-christened after the fruit! Originally an 18th century agricultural workers dwelling home, Podere I Corbezzoli is painted in a classic Argentario dark ochre, covered with an evergreen shrub which in May is covered with white scented flowers.
The sitting room, with open fireplace and large frenchwindows, leads up to the dining area and a small kitchen. On the ground floor there is a large master bedroom suite, with access to the garden. Upstairs, one of the bedrooms with brass bedstead has beautiful views over the panorama below. Its separate ‘upstairs and downstairs’ living makes Corbezzoli ideal for two couples holidaying together wanting privacy.
Green lawns surround the house, with a pretty canopy, barbecue and fridge for al fresco living. Set well away from the house is the small but practical pool area, with its fabulous view.
The surrounding unspoiled landscape surrounding Podere i Corbezzoli is its most truly memorable feature, and a walk to the nearby town is a pleasant stroll down, although it can be “rather hot coming back during the summer months, but one feels truly invigorated”.
