| In this intriguing setting, the elegant Palazzo Tre Cuori provides a spectacular yet relaxing base for an unusual holiday. It is a small palazzo, built of yellow sandstone, and is beautifully restored and preserved, with a classical façade of pillars, porticos and delicate ironwork balconies. The dignified exterior hides a secret – an interior where original Art Deco features are set off with the exuberant panache of contemporary Italian design. Spacious rooms with high, star-vaulted ceilings and cool floors of marble and antique tiles are painted in ice-cream colours and furnished in an appropriately uncluttered way with just a few fine pieces of antique and modern furniture. The kitchen and bathrooms are uncompromisingly modern however. Bedrooms are airy, all are en suite, and have their own balconies. The house is surrounded by a walled, lawned garden of the utmost privacy, and the ground floor opens on to fan-vaulted stone cloisters that run round three sides of a delightful swimming pool. Sun beds are provided for the full enjoyment of the sun-worshipping guest. On the first floor are wide terraces that look over the town and countryside towards the sea. This is a perfect spot for an evening meal, watching the sun set, the palm trees mere silhouettes against the golden sky. Despite the tranquillity of its setting, this is a town house, and the shops and restaurants, and the vibrant atmosphere of this small southern town, are only three minutes walk away. Quirky, perhaps, in their approach to interior design, the owners have nevertheless created a supremely comfortable and attractive villa, perfect for a family or a group of friends wishing to discover for themselves the very different diversions of this amazing region of Italy. The endless sandy beaches of the west coast are a five minute drive away while the rockier coastline of the east is ten minutes away. |
