| Erimitis is one of those solidly built old stone dwellings that fits comfortably into its environment. From the moment you first walk into the garden and glimpse the pretty surroundings of olive and fruit trees, featuring the stone walls and terraces so typical of Paxos, you know that a restful holiday awaits you.The first stroll through the garden gives no hint, however, of the villa's secret – its glorious pool, set on a cliff top where broom and wild herbs grow, with a dramatic view of the magnificent Erimitis cliffs and the sea. A small poolside kitchenette with fridge means that watching the sunset from the pool, with an appropriate drink in hand is no hardship. Alternatively, you can always watch the sunset with friends at the ‘The Sunset Bar’ on the adjacent peninsula which has quite a following particularly in August.The original bread oven housed in an out building makes a delightful feature plus the separate outside barbecue. Inside, the villa has been sympathetically renovated by its owners, combining traditional old family furniture with modern comforts, evident in the country-style but up-to-date kitchen. Erimitis is a rare find: a superb retreat for honeymooners or a family looking for a truly Paxiot holiday with a spectacular and dramatic backdrop, and the nearest taverna only 1 km walk away. |
