At the point where the Corfu Channel opens out to the north, the coastline undergoes a subtle change – the sea deepens, the winds freshen, and wide bays provide ideal conditions for windsurfing and sailing as these two activities lure enthusiasts again and again to the bays of Avlaki and Coyevinas. Those of a less active disposition will love lazing around their villa enjoying the lovely views along the coast, inland to Corfu's mountains and across the sea to the mainland. At Avlaki, there is an excellent English-run dinghy sailing school.
